Super Mario Bros is one of the most influential gaming franchises in the world. In the history of gaming, SMB is the catalyst that helped make video games a mainstream form of media. During the initial days of gaming, the handmade hanafuda playing cards manufacturer, Nintendo, was taking its first steps in the gaming industry.

Going into a completely new direction, from playing cards to video games, Nintendo got their first big hit in the scene thanks to Mario. The 2D side-scrolling platformer took the world by storm and soon became a cultural icon. At present, SMB has worldwide renown; with a plethora of games, TV series, books, and feature-length movie set for release in the upcoming month.

Though originating from Japan, Mario has had a significant impact in America. The United States is one of the major markets for the IP. With such a large audience, Nintendo and other license holders, always keep the US in mind while manufacturing their products.
