Street Fighter 6 is not catching a break since its anticipated release last week. After swaying the critics and fans with its outstanding gameplay experience, Capcom’s latest offering in the fighting series has made a roaring debut on Steam. Alongside other platforms, the game was also launched for PC on this digital store front. As expected, the game has topped the list of global best-sellers on the store, while even outselling a very popular Call of Duty entry.

This game is none other than Modern Warfare II which was released by Activision last year. Since the last few months, the first-person shooter blockbuster has managed to be among the top three Steam titles in sales. However, the arrival of Street Fighter 6 has pushed it slightly away now.

Street Fighter 6 takes the first position on Steam’s best-seller list while outperforming Call of Duty Modern Warfare II

Upon its much-awaited launch on June 2nd, the seventh main entry in the iconic saga succeeded in becoming the most played non-F2P title on Steam. Shattering all the expectations, the game went on to cross the figure of 70,000 peak concurrent players on the digital store front.

As a result of its record-breaking launch, Street Fighter 6 has also topped the list of Steam’s best-selling games for the week ending June 6th. According to the data from SteamDatabase, Capcom’s title has achieved the first position among other popular heavyweights.

As one can see in the tweet from SteamDatabase, Street Fighter 6 is on the top spot in the list. However, its arrival ended up pushing Activision’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare II on the fourth position.

Street Fighter 6 currently has a phenomenal score of 92 on review on aggregating website Metacritic. Among the games released by Capcom in 2023, it sits only behind Resident Evil 4 Remake. Most of the media outlets have given it an amazing verdict, making it highly recommended for the players. It looks like the fighting game might end up giving a tough competition to other titles in this year’s The Game Awards event.
