The Xbox exclusive Starfield hit the sales on September 6. However, the early access to the game had the community convinced of an upcoming domination. For obvious reasons, the surreal hype around Starfield isn’t being appreciated by PlayStation fans. In a similar episode, a gaming journalist faced the heat of the PlayStation fans for enjoying Starfield on Xbox. 

PlayStation fans want Alanah Pearce to lose her job for enjoying Starfield

Popular YouTuber and gaming journalist Alanah Pearce has been subjected to some serious backlash and threats via the internet. The reason behind the online hatred is attributed to her stream dedicated to Starfield. The creator had hosted an eventful stream exploring the realms of the Bethesda open world. 

Following some dedicated long hours of gaming, she was able to land on Pluto manually. The glimpse of the achievement went viral over social media, impressing fans with her piloting skills. However, the celebrations soon took an unfortunate turn.

A lot of PlayStation fans lashed out at the streamer for promoting an Xbox title. For context, Pearce is also a game developer at Santa Monica Studios, the developers of the God of War series. Thus, few PS owners believe her association with the Sony console should be called off.

Social media has highly changed the way console wars are perceived by the community. What is supposed to be a celebration of choices and a spirit of healthy content competition has taken an ugly turn in the past few years. Some fans have created a toxic environment, as seen in this case. However, Pearce has addressed the matter.

The streamer gives a befitting reply

Pearce discussed the matter and how “absurd” it is in a video she uploaded on her YouTube channel. She mentioned that she had a 10-minute talk about Starfield with Cory Barlog. As seen in the post, the user tagged Cory Barlog, as well as Hermen Hulst. Adding on, she also expressed that she doesn’t let the hatred get to her as she would continue doing the job she loves the most, “gaming”.

While the console rivalries do keep the spark alive in the competitive culture of gaming, it’s fun only till it’s above the belt. In the end, the goal is beyond any rivalry. The bigger picture is providing the best games to players.
