Recently, the popular online store, Steam, achieved a major milestone. The Steam store is one of the most renowned and oldest digital stores dedicated to video games. And it looks like the year 2022 has already proven to be lucky for this American-based gaming service; Steam now has 27.9 million concurrent users. These figures reflect the ever-increasing popularity and the massive user base of this American-based digital store.

What some might not know is that Steam broke their own userbase record, which is just amazing. Last year, during the month of March 2021, they achieved a milestone of a whopping 26.9 million players. And now, with slightly lower than 28 million users, they have broken their own record, and that too within under a year.

Steam: more popular than ever

Many people might be wondering how Steam managed to reach such great numbers in less than a year. Well, a major reason, apart from fans’ contribution, was the global pandemic. With more people staying indoors, looking for ways to kill time and get their mind off things, Steam quickly grew in popularity, eventually becoming the behemoth with 27.9 million users it is today.

And this has been more true for the last year. In the past year, not only did Steam have discounts on older games but also newer ones.

FIFA 22, a game that came out only in November, was also on discount during the Cyber Monday sale, days after its release. This goes to show Steam facilitates the purchasing of video games at little cost.
