Steam Deck is a versatile gaming PC, and it’s time and again proven that since its initial launch earlier this year. However, one passionate fan recently made a stunning crossover of Valve’s hit gadget with a retro gaming tech product, strengthening this fact even further.
Nintendo’s old hardware is still popular among the crazy fans who love to make them relevant in the modern-day. One such gaming enthusiast used the very old Game Boy Camera with the 2022 Steam Deck handheld PC. Not to mention that they succeeded in doing so as well.

For those who are unaware of this piece of tech from decades ago, the Nintendo Game Boy Camera was first launched in the year 1998. It was released as the Pocket Camera for the players to use. Its main purpose was to shoot grayscale photos. It also offered options to edit them or even create original drawings. Players could transfer the images from one GBC to the other.
When the world didn’t even know the term selfie, Nintendo offered a front-facing camera on this device for users to take pictures of themselves. Guinness recognized it as the world’s smallest digital camera in the year 1999.
The manufacturing of this pocket camera was ceased in the year 2002.
Meanwhile, a retro gaming fan addict just resurrected the Game Boy Camera by using it in a unique manner.
A user named emil10001 succeeded in attaching the pocket camera to their Steam Deck to make it work. Posting a video of the amazing build, they showed how the GBC was functioning as intended while being attached to the Steam Deck.
Although the quality coming out from this kind of crossover won’t be great, by any means, the experiment is quite appealing though. It also shows how much compatible Valve’s handheld gaming PC is, even with a tech product from 1998.
