As the days go by,  gamers are getting more and more excited about the launch of GTA 6. With Rockstar Games not sharing any details about the release date, many fans have started speculating about the launch. Players have been waiting at the edge of their seats since the first official announcement of a new Grand Theft Auto title back in February 2022, with no further notice given.

Stephen Bliss, the man responsible for the box art and visual identity of the series since GTA 3, posted a picture on Reddit that created a ruckus in the comments section. While many believed this was a potential leak, the truth highly disappointed fans.

Ex-Rockstar Games Senior Artist gives GTA 6 fans false hopes

In a recent post on Instagram, the artist behind the box art of the GTA series posted a picture of some art as a tribute to his time with Rockstar games. In the picture, he created a Statue of Liberty with a book in her hand. After zooming, the cover of the book becomes visible showing the “December 1” along with a year written in Roman numerals.

Stephen Bliss, the artist who is behind every Grand Theft Auto box art and visual identity since GTA 3, just posted this photo on his Instagram account, he also posted a close up reel, where you can see more details, on the plaque held by the statue of liberty is written ”December 1”

This picture was uploaded on the GTA 6 subreddit by a fan hoping that the date mentioned on the book to be the release date of GTA 6. Upon seeing this, the community believed this to be a potential leak for the release date for GTA 6, only to be disappointed.

Many other fans of Rockstar games started to point out the significance of the date in the comments section and most of them agreed that this was not a GTA 6 leak. The speculations ended when a comment told the community that the date mentioned on the book is actually the date of the inception of Rockstar Games and not the release date for GTA 6. Once deciphered, it was clear that the Roman numerals on the book were actually from 1998, the year Rockstar Games was founded. After noticing the comment, many fans who were excited about the alleged leak of December 1 were unsatisfied.

Fans correct the misconception of the community

One fan who narrated the actuality posted his explanation deciphered the Roman numerals stated that the date in the picture was the founding date of Rockstar Games.

Another user tried to look into the music that was posted on Instagram with the artwork. Trying to find some correlation between the date and the song. They also mentioned their curiosity regarding how much it would cost to get a commission piece done by Stephen himself.

To add to the controversy, Stephen deleted the post off his Instagram as fans started commenting asking for updates on GTA 6. This was noticed by the community and players started wondering why was the post taken down.

As there is no official news on GTA 6, fans will continue to try to look for a release date considering the hype around the game. It is important to mention that Rockstar Games have not yet mentioned the upcoming game name, making the name GTA 6 still a speculation. While there are enough leaks on the upcoming title online, fans are restlessly waiting for the official release date from Rockstar Games.
