Starfield is not very far from launch now. In under two months, this game will be in the hands of its fans. This game has been a very long time coming. Currently the biggest competition that the game has is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Being a Nintendo Switch exclusive, this game has garnered a massive fanbase too.

Tears of the Kingdom has been one of the fastest-selling titles of 2023. The question now arises: while both of these games are capable of becoming successes, which one of them would win GOTY?

Intriguing Worlds of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom & Starfield

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the direct sequel to 2017’s Zelda: Breath of the Wild. These titles look very similar, many even think that Tears is nothing but a glorified expansion.

There were numerous things a player could see in these games that made them stand apart. Tears of the Kingdom expands upon the map and even the gameplay of its prequel and much more. The biggest additions are the Sky Islands and the underground chasms that spread across the map only underground.

And the best and most exciting part of this game was those newly introduced abilities. The developers gave players the ability to do roughly anything they wished. Ultrahand and those devices made for a brilliant combination indeed!

And Starfield, on the other hand, is going to be a game full of possibilities, but in another way. Bethesda has created a new process for customizing and designing ships. Then there are those planets, with 1000+ of them, most of which would surely have some sort of life on them. A game about humanity settling on various planets outside of its own solar system.

It would take players across the galaxy for its story. In between those adventures, there are so many things one can do. They can buy and sell ships, fight space pirates, scan undiscovered planet data and sell it, and even become space bounty hunters.

Now all this would be mixed into that well-known Bethesda charm. And this is why some say this game would be the GOTY 2023, and some say Tears of the Kingdom deserves that award more. One has introduced gaming to something previously thought somewhat impossible, such as ultrasound and another does something tried and tested, but to such perfection that one cannot help but wish for it to win.

The choice is indeed very hard, and it will soon get worse when Spider-Man 2 launches. Fans would be demanding a GOTY for that game too. It remains to be seen which one of these games will actually win this award. But no doubt each one of them is doing something that deserves it.
