Starfield is making a lot of noise just ahead of release. The Xbox exclusive is dropping next month, and it’s already topping several charts. The game has generated so much hype that it has allegedly given Microsoft an edge in the console rivalry as well.

A recent report by a GameStop manager has claimed that fans are returning their PlayStation 5 consoles to get Xbox consoles ahead of Starfield’s launch. With the console wars not showing any signs of ending any time soon, Starfield’s craze may just be the ace of spades that Xbox needs.

Starfield is turning the tides for Xbox

One of Microsoft’s primary defenses against Sony’s allegations was that the PlayStation consoles have a long list of exclusive titles, while Xbox never has had nearly enough. With the win over FTC, Microsoft is now on track to acquire one of the biggest developer studios in the industry.

It was also claimed once that Xbox’s takeover of Bethesda was an attempt to save Starfield from being delayed. It looks like the speculations paid off as Starfield is now on the path to saving Microsoft instead.

One manager from GameStop has reported that fans are visiting the store in numbers to return their PS5 consoles and take home Xbox consoles instead. While we haven’t confirmed the rumor, we won’t be surprised if it’s indeed true. Starfield has generated massive hype for over a year since its release. Bethesda has announced there are going to be 1,000 planets across 100 solar systems. Fans are waiting eagerly to explore the vast map of Bethesda’s anticipated GOTY.

Is Microsoft leaving Sony behind?

Since the announcement of Xbox taking over Call of Duty developers Activision-Blizzard, Sony has tried everything to stop the deal. A prolonged legal battle later, Microsoft received the green light from the US court. While the UK approval is expected to arrive later this month, Microsoft is set to get direct control over many popular Blizzard titles soon.

With Starfield’s craze, things are looking a bit brighter for Xbox at the moment as its sales are expected to increase some more over the next few months. Many fans have logged out of social media platforms to make sure they don’t get any spoilers before the launch. With such hype for their exclusive titles, Microsoft is definitely looking solid at the moment.
