Like any of their other titles, Bethesda has made Starfield very huge and detailed. Everything in this game is up a level from all the previous games by this developer. Traveling between planets is the biggest pull of this upcoming game. Imagine the possibility of accessing a map inside your ship and traveling where you want instantly. This is the possibility this game offers, and the crowd that wants to do it is the crowd this game is catering to.
Every developer makes sure that the systems they introduce in their games are easy to grasp. Or at least comprehensive enough to understand the what and how of it all? Bethesda is an expert in creating such systems. Maps in their previous games, from Skyrim to Fallout 4, and the leveling systems that worked so well in explaining the perks and skills are evidence of this expertise.

This is exactly what shines when one looks at the Star Map of Starfield. It’s basically a map that players can access from a console on their ship. Accessing the console would allow players to take a look at the current planet they are on and detect known locations on said planet. Players can choose any location on that planet, and the ship will land there.
Backing out from that map takes them to the system where that planet is. This shows every planet in that system. This would allow players to see planets with key locations, missions, and even life. It also allows players to see planets that do not have life but have an abundance of resources.
Backing out even further takes players to a galaxy-wide view, showing them all the systems that are part of the galaxy they are currently in. Players can select other systems from this map to visit. Doing so uses the ship’s grav drive, but the process is pretty much instantaneous. Jumping to the most distant ones would require players to upgrade their ships even further.
