Cyberpunk 2077, released in 2020, was faced with severe criticism over its buggy launch, which failed to meet the market hype. Despite its poor performance, no one could criticize the stunning visuals of Night City. However, it seems that Star Citizen has surpassed all of these games in terms of costs, making followers believe that something incredible is in store for them.

Will Star Citizen live up to the hype?

A recent post on Twitter claimed that Star Citizen’s development cost is greater than the costs of Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA V, and Cyberpunk 2077 combined. If this is true, then it is indeed a stunning figure. The total cost of developing and publishing GTA V was reported to be $265 million, while RDR 2 cost Rockstar $170 million. Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t very feeble in comparison, which cost $174 million till release.

If Star Citizen really has already spent over $600 million without an official release date, then the possibilities of the game may be enormous. The game may very well host an expansive universe that players may take ages to explore.
