STALKER 2 developers need a break. Developers GSC Game unit had to move their office from Kyiv due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. And in the midst of a difficult period, they faced another setback.
When the office had to be moved, development was momentarily halted. The game, which was revealed back in 2018 had had setbacks for various reasons, most notably the Russian invasion, but now, things seem to be on track again. Albeit, with another recent incident. It was confirmed that the parts of their Prague office caught fire, but fortunately, nobody was hurt. However, there was damage to a few floors and possibly some data. So just how bad was it?
GSC Game World suffers massive fire damage

A fire incident recently occurred at the developers’ Prague unit, where three floors of the office were affected. Two floors were not damaged. Meanwhile, one floor was damaged so badly, it was reported that the floor would need to be completely restored.
Developers are concerned that the damaged part stored most of the game’s backup servers. While it was a massive accident, the cause is still unknown. Further, the company has announced that currently, officials are investigating the cause of the fire. The news of the fire outbreak was initially revealed by an employee of GSC Game World.

His statement further followed– “We express our deepest appreciation for your questions and the words of support we have been receiving. No anomaly, not even a “Burner”, will make us stop in our pursuit of our final goal. We’ve dealt with worse than that before. This is fine.”
A strong statement to confirm that nothing will deter them from making Stalker 2.

Credit to GSC Game World. They didn’t just have to deal with issues arising out of the Russian invasion or this fire incident. They were also subjected to multiple game leaks and hacks. It was remarkable to see the company keeping up with its motivation after going through so much.
What is known about STAKER 2
Developed by GSC Game World, STALKER 2 is a survival horror game. Featuring the protagonist Skif as an ex-Ukrainian military force, players have to enter the Chernobyl extension zone and face mutated beasts. These beasts are the cause of chemical reactions that happened after the Chernobyl accident. The game’s main objective is to keep all these beasts away from the outside world.

After its initial announcement in 2012, GSC Game World ultimately planned a 2022 release However, after many unexpected delays, STALKER 2 could be looking at an early 2024 release.
