Sony showed off the first-ever gameplay footage of Spider-Man 2 during its recently broadcast PlayStation showcase. They showed fans a bunch of gameplay footage for this game. They even revealed the second villain for this game, but they skipped revealing the launch date.
Fans had been kept wondering when this game will actually come out. The prospect of knowing a game is coming, that it’s shaping up in an awesome way, and not knowing when it launches can be frustrating. But this changed during the Summer Game Fest 2023.

Spider-Man in a black symbiote suit sounding annoyed and angry, while Miles tries to calm him with his jokes. This is what fans saw first in the gameplay of this upcoming game at the PS showcase.
A new villain was revealed too: Kraven the Hunter. He entered New York City in search of a challenging hunt and found his ultimate prey in this Spider-Man duo. From the gameplay, it appears Miles and Peter have managed to change the course of this hunt and are hunting Kraven instead. All this sounds pretty exciting, and overall, this game’s visuals are pretty insane.
There hasn’t been a complete overhaul, but facial expressions and subtle environmental details make all the difference there is. This game sounds good, seems to have an awesome story, and looks pretty brilliant, but when is it going to launch?
Spider-Man 2 will launch as a PlayStation 5 exclusive on October 20, 2023. And indeed, this game actually looks like it takes full advantage of the powers of Sony’s latest generation console. What remains to be seen now is how they have implemented those dual-sense features in this one.
What does this date mean for Wolverine?
The date of October 20 means this game will be released pretty late. This also means that Insomniac will continue working on Spider-Man 2 for the better part of 2023. This means there are pretty slim chances for the release of Wolverine in 2024. Here’s hoping there are two different teams working on these two games.
