Fan art drops a PlayStation reference to the latest Spider-Man comic

On September 5, 2023, Marvel released Spider-Man Unlimited Infinity. Upon seeing the comic, one fan decided to edit a page from the comic to change one of the dialogues. This Dialogue change was uploaded to Twitter depicting Insomniac Peter teaching 616 how to get Mary Jane back. The edited Dialogue showed how the original comic was edited to include a PlayStation reference. When asked about how to save Mary Jane, Insomniac’s Spider-Man shares some advice with Peter Parker from Earth-616.

In the edited version of the comic, Insomniac’s Spider-Man gives 616 some Spider-to-Spider advice. The edit humorously suggests that 616 should try using Triangle + Circle on the PlayStation controller to save Mary Jane. Not only does this break the 4th wall in the comic book, but it also shows how fans love involving themselves in fan fiction to keep things interesting.

This PlayStation reference suggests using the Finisher from the Spider-Man games to save Mary Jane. This can be done by pressing Triangle + Circle at the same time. Considering that Insomniac’s Spider-Man began on the PlayStation, fans loved the little easter egg the artist added to the comic.
