Since its release, Sony PlayStation 5 stocks only started stabilizing very recently. It was announced by Jim Ryan himself. However, the console has also sold over 30 million units since its launch in 2020.

Some say that the stability of PlayStation 5’s stock means its real-life cycle has just started. Some have something similar to say about its games too. People have not started seeing a regular crop of video games appearing on this console as of yet.

Amongst all these talks, some suggest PlayStation 5 Pro might be on its way, while Sony has some other plans altogether!

Sony would not be releasing a Pro variant of PlayStation 5!

PlayStation 5 is one of the most powerful consoles on the market. The console has a number of games to prove its graphical prowess. Games like Horizon Forbidden West and Demon Souls have already shown gamers what is possible when developers put their minds to making a perfect-looking game.

But there is a shortage of games that utilize the complete power of PlayStation 5. Most games that have been released on this console have been cross-generation titles. Developers had to make those games with PlayStation 4 in mind too.

A reason for these cross-gen titles was the fact that PS5 did not have a very big install base, but now that the console has sold enough, Sony is planning to focus solely on their next-gen console.

Coming to the rumors of a PlayStation 5 Pro, it hardly makes sense, given the fact that users have yet to see a continuous stream of games made with PlayStation 5 in mind, so it does not make sense for Sony to shift to a more powerful console as of yet.

And PlayStation 5 is said to be plenty powerful to justify an eight-year life cycle on its own. Technologies like FSR have assured this time. And maybe that’s why some are saying that Sony would be skipping any thought of a PS5 Pro and jumping straight to a PlayStation 6 when they see fit.

Some are even considering 2023 the first proper year for PS5. VR2 is launching this year; Spider-Man 2 releases this year too, and even Final Fantasy XVI is coming this year.
