Sony PlayStation exclusives make news one way or another. Games like Uncharted, The Last of Us, and God of War make news by being epic cinematic experiences. On the other hand, games like Flower, Journey, and Dreams make news by being something that takes the experience of gaming to a never-before-seen level.

Dreams have shown gamers that there are no limitations when one has an unbounded imagination and a toolbox full of possibilities. But it appears this game will soon become a thing of the past.

Sony PlayStation exclusive, Dreams, is going to lose official support very soon!

Years ago, Minecraft really set the bar high for games that gave players all the freedom to do whatever they felt like. That game went on to be so popular that it garnered overwhelming support from players all around the world.

With the existence of huge franchises such as Call of Duty and Fortnite, this game remains one of the most streamed titles on Twitch. Then Sony decided to top it in their own way. They brought in the developers of creative games such as Little Big Planet and Tearaway, and work on a new revolutionary IP got underway.

Eventually, Dream was introduced to the world. It wasn’t quite like Minecraft, though; it was in its own league. And that’s why it was as successful as it was. From the availability of its beta itself, fans started sharing some really epic creations, reimagined levels from popular games. Sometimes they gave shape to how an old-timey game might look in modern visuals. Other times, they created their own games altogether.

Eventually, this game—or, if one must say, tool—became one of the most successful new IPs Sony released. There were even rumors of it making its way to PC, but that never happened, and now, Sony PlayStation has decided to stop supporting it. Game developer Media Molecule announced this in a recent blog. The online services for this game would end in September 2023.

They explained, “We’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue live support for Dreams after 1 September, 2023 to shift our focus to an exciting new project.”

Is their new project Dreams 2?

Fans are expecting their new game to be Dreams 2, given the fact that Dreams never made it to PlayStation 5, where its potential could have been raised tenfold. And let’s not forget that PC version.

Maybe the developer and publisher of this game decided they would rather make a new game from the ground up for PlayStation 5. But, that is still up for speculation as nothing has been announced from their side yet.
