As the second Quarter of FY 2022 ends, Sony has stated in the financial call that in the period Marvel Spider-Man Remastered has performed exceptionally well on PC. Looking at the success, Sony is also expecting some great sales from the next game in the series Spider-Man: Miles Morales.


Back on August 12, 2022, Sony released Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for the PC. The game received a very positive reception. Though there were some complaints about the game being too heavy for the CPUs, it still managed to reach some great sales records. 

The Q2 of FY2022 was a very mixed one for Sony’s PlayStation. Though the company made more revenue than before, the profit margins took a massive hit. Sony had stated many reasons why this had occurred, and what they are planning for the future. But this massive success of a first-party game is bound to make some waves in Sony’s plan in the gaming market.

Marvel Spider-Man Remastered becomes Sony’s fastest-selling game on PC 

During the FY 2022 Q2 financial call, Sony revealed that Marvel Spider-Man Remastered is the fastest-selling PC game for Sony. Though there aren’t any official numbers, Streamspy has hinted that at least 1 million+ copies of the game have been sold till now.

The PC port of the game was handled by Nixxes. They have implanted many new features in the game’s remaster, such as Ray tracing effects for Shadows, improved graphics quality, and higher frame rates. Though these new additions have made the game much better, they also affected its performance, as the game became a little too heavy for the CPUs.

But the October update of the game allowed added support for NVIDIA DLSS 3, which managed to improve overall performance in CPU-bound scenarios. Now Sony is looking forward to the release of Marvel Spider-Man: Miles Morales, on November 18, 2022. 

How was PlayStation’s performance in FY2022 Q2?

According to the report, in this Fiscal year’s Q2, PlayStation generated revenues worth ¥720.7 billion ($4.88 billion), which is up by 12% in terms of year-over-year and a record Q2 in terms of Japanese yen figures. But the profits were very low as the company only made a profit of  ¥42.1 billion ($284.6 million) which is 49% lower.

The increase in the profits is attributed to the recent hike in the costs of the consoles and games in the industry, but the same increase has affected the profits. Sony’s network services, including PlayStation Plus and advertisements, have also seen an 8% increase in revenues as it collected ¥344 billion ($2.32 billion).
