Rockstar Games has a huge name in the market of gaming for their open-world type of games. Grand Theft Auto, Bully, Manhunt, etc, all are a part of this. But the Red Dead Redemption franchise was the one that stood out the most, with memorable characters, an unforgettable storyline, and ahead of its time approach for the games that had made the games stand out for themselves.

But a piece of sad news has been reported recently by Rockstar insider Ben when he pointed out that the original 2010 released Red Dead Redemption is now unavailable at the PlayStation Plus service. That means the games are now unavailable for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Red Dead Redemption gets removed from PlayStation Plus
A brilliant game in every sense, Red Dead Redemption is a story that has never been told before in the entire history of the gaming industry. The reason behind this was that Rockstar made sure the characters have a path of both evil and good at the same time, but more into a path of accepting who they really are.
With an extremely heartbreaking ending and a storyline that can make hardcore good-doers feel sad for an anti-hero of the west, Red Dead Redemption is surely the dark horse of its family. And as the game gets taken down by PlayStation‘s online game downloading service PS Plus after 6 years of its release, fans can now only grieve at the fact that such a wonderful game is unavailable to play on PlayStation 4 and 5.
Although, the good news is that it can still be played on PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, but for that players will need to use the backward compatibility of the Xbox to play it.
Why did Sony remove the game?
The obvious answer to that can be Rockstar telling them to do so. Then why did Rockstar ask Sony to do it? Well, if believed from past experiences, it can be speculated that Rockstar might be working on a remaster or remake of the game for PlayStation. Since the Xbox version of the game had a drastic overhaul, it can be believed that Rockstar can be planning the same for PlayStation.

Also, Rockstar has this reputation of removing the original games from the market before they launch a remaster, just like in the case of the GTA Trilogy. Therefore, it can simply be wrong, but the most probable answer to Sony removing Red Dead redemption from PlayStation Plus is that a remake might be in order.
