The FTC vs Microsoft case would go down in the video game history books. After a neck-to-neck 5-day battle between the two parties, Xbox makers emerged victorious. With that victory, they completed the most expensive video game company acquisition for $69 billion. While Microsoft is enjoying the spoils of its victory, this acquisition can turn out to be a nightmare for its rivals.

Especially for Sony PlayStation if they decide to pull Call of Duty from the consoles of their rivals. Although the two rivals have agreed to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for now. However, some recent revelation point out Sony might have lost a few titles to retain Call of Duty.

In a recent statement to the Verge, Kari Perez, head of global communications at Xbox, made some shocking revelations. He confirmed that both rivals have signed a 10-year deal for Call of Duty, but the contents of the deal have changed. Perez revealed the deal now covers only Call of Duty and no other Activision titles. The original deal of January 2022 notably mentioned, “all existing Activision console titles on Sony, including future versions in the Call of Duty franchise or any other current Activision franchise on Sony through December 31st, 2027.”

But now the deal does not cover other Activision titles. These changes might be due to the recent results of the FTC vs Microsoft case. Sony’s decision to resist the original deal has enabled the Xbox makers to alter the deal according to their wants. This new deal is similar to what Microsoft offered Nintendo. Fans believe this will deepen the growing rift between the console makers. The PlayStation CEO himself has voiced his discontent over the matter time and again in the past.
