Sony’s next-generation headset is the talk of the town nowadays. It is targeting AAA titles on its next-gen Playstation VR headsets, which sounds huge. Developing next-gen VR games is often very expensive. More and more information about this new headset is emerging daily. Sony’s PSVR is a great hit already. It was first released way back in 2016 and received a very good response from the gamers. However, the previous headset is not that much compatible with the latest PlayStation 5 without an adaptor.
Despite not being compatible with Playstation 5, Sony got around 5 million sales on PSVR by 2019 only. Now, Sony has big plans for PlayStation VR. It has already publically confirmed the news that it is going to develop a brand new headset. The headset is said to be on the right track, but it will not be available until late 2022 as it still needs some work.

Sony also revealed some interesting extra information about the next-gen PlayStation VR headset. According to the news, the controller will detect how far away a user’s fingers are from the button. Well, it is quite unclear how this will be implemented into effective gameplay. The brand new Sony’s VR headset is rumored to include:
- Inside-out tracking (it will use a sensor to track the accurate position instead of a PlayStation Camera)
- 4K resolution
- 110-degree field of view
- USB-C tether
- Lenses with fresnel device (this will reduce the extra weight of a headset)
- HDR-capable OLED
- Eye-tracking and flexible scale rendering
Additional PlayStation VR option
According to a YouTube channel, Sony wants to pursue a hybrid model with more AAA titles. The primary goal of Sony is that the new game will be released with an additional VR option. If all the games have a VR option, it will definitely hike up the craze of VR among players. More users will buy the headset to get that high level of gaming experience.
