Fans all over the globe have been waiting for Sony to announce their next big event. Ever since Xbox Games Showcase, PlayStation fans have been eager to see more from Sony. The wait won’t last much longer now. The State of Play event will broadcast live on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at 1:00 p.m PT or 4:00 p.m ET.
PlayStation State of Play – what to expect?
Well, let’s start off with the bad news. The event will not be accommodating any major PS5 announcements. That comes as a shocker to many and fans are going to be disappointed over this. All have been pondering over what the next-gen console will be priced at. Rumors and leaks have been suggesting the consoles will set you back somewhere just short of $500, but nothing has been officially confirmed.

The console is making its debut with top-line specs and two variants; one all-digital and one with a physical drive. Fans wanted an official announcement on the price and pre-order dates. However, that is highly unlikely to happen now as per their statement.
The event will instead focus on PS4 & PS VR games, which is certainly interesting too. Xbox showcased a lot of games coming to the Series X and we don’t see a reason why Sony should hold back now.
State of Play returns Thursday at 1:00pm Pacific!

We’ll certainly be getting a more in-depth look at some of the indie games showcased back in June’s PS5 event. Goodbye, Volcano High, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Bugsnax from Young Horses, Little Devil Inside from Neostream Interactive, Oddworld: Soulstorm from Oddworld Inhabitants and Stray from BlueTwelve Studio and Annapurna all make it to that list.
PlayStation further clarified on their blog that the event would last an approx 40+ minutes.
