Despite multiple similar games in the market, Call of Duty remains one of the biggest-selling titles of all time. In recent times, Ubisoft has also been working on FPS titles that may present difficult times for CoD. With their “COD Killer” Xdefiant releasing back in February, the devs look to establish themselves as a prominent face in the FPS market. However, not all fans feel their optimism regarding the game. In a recent live stream, Dr Disrespect hinted that Xdefiant may not be what Ubisoft is trying to sound like.

With CoD caught in a cross-fire between the ongoing Sony/FTC and Mircosoft legal fiasco over the latter’s acquisition of Activision, it should be interesting to see how such a popular streamer’s opinions affect its result.

During a live-streaming session on YouTube, Dr Disrespect, one of the most known faces in the gaming community, was seen playing Ubisoft’s Xdefiant with his pals. Xdefiant was developed by Ubisoft California and released in early 2023. With multiple designers who previously had worked on CoD titles, Ubisoft was explicitly trying to penetrate the market for fast-paced FPS games.

Understandably, the team behind Xdefiant worked with the sight of CoD’s mantle in the industry. Projecting the game as the “CoD killer” Ubisoft looks to snatch away market share from Activision as the latter struggles to find its definitive permanent camp. However, not all fans agree with Ubisoft’s perspective and refuse to believe that CoD can’t be shaken from their throne and that games like Xdefiant will eventually fall out of layers’ memories.

Dr Disrespect doesn’t seem to be on board with the “CoD Killer”

Despite Ubisot’s stance that Xdefiant will make severe ripples in the market, the CoD and Apex Legends streamer Dr Disrespect don’t seem to agree with them. In the live-streaming video, the Dr was heard saying “Something Just Kind of Felt Off the Game“. However, he did also mention it must be his settings that caused him to feel so, but the viewers could get the hint.

The streamer’s comments would come as a significant blow to Ubisoft, who put high expectations on Xdefiant. As Activision is currently facing serious investigations regarding its intellectual properties and the merger proposition with Microsoft, Ubisoft was expecting its market share to increase in the FPS domain.
