Creating different builds in Elden Ring is not a small thing; every build takes a player in a different direction and offers some standout advantages and disadvantages. But once a player commits to one build, they can be sure that this decision will make most of this game a breeze for them. And the same matters if you are willing to build an intelligence built in Elden Ring.

For those who want to keep all their encounters with bosses and enemies a little distant, this guide would prove very helpful. As it would guide them in the path of creating one of the best intelligence builds in Elden Ring.

Starting Class and Goals to build the strongest Intelligence character in Elden Ring

Before starting any guide, one must understand that there are a few targets that must be set, just so players do not go around spending their hard-earned runes in all the wrong places. Those runes must go into the right stats, or everything goes off the road.

Unlike most other builds, this one requires players to focus on four major stats: Vigor needs to be 60, strength should be 16, dexterity should be 22, and intelligence should be 80. Keeping Vigor at 60 means players will not die in a single hit when fighting a boss.

Other stats such as dexterity and strength would assure that the player character is able to wield some weapons and equipment they are required to carry. The game is such that a player cannot survive by just overdoing a single stat.

It is recommended that players start the game with the Astrologer class if they wish to target an intelligence-based build.

Weapons and Affinities to build the strongest Intelligence character in Elden Ring

Of course, one affinity that goes without saying in this game is magic. If one is going after intelligence, they are surely focusing on magic. This would give players bonus damage over what they are already doing to their opponents.

The other one is cold; this builds up and builds up till it takes a big share of an enemy’s health bar. It even stuns those enemies that are usually harder to stagger, which can be a huge advantage during those high-stakes battles.

A character with an intelligence-focused build does not use usual weapons; they go for staves. A staff and a scepter are weapons of wizards and such. Take your pick and go with it; most of them scale with intelligence and can be upgraded. The most recommended staff in this game is the Carian Regal Sceptre.

Players get excellent scaling when using sorceries at no additional FP cost. For players looking for a very effective staff early in the game, Meteorite Staff can be their trusted friend.

Sorcery is a must to build the strongest Intelligence character in Elden Ring

When it comes to intelligence-based builds, sorcery becomes prominent too. These are the only sources of offense players have against their enemies; hence, it is recommended players choose them wisely.

While it is pretty clear that almost all sorceries would scale well enough with intelligence, this guide would still recommend some that come with maximum effect!

Ranni’s Dark Moon is a homing sorcery that obviously sends a huge ball of magic that looks like a moon toward an enemy. That enemy gets a good amount of damage, and they get a healthy dose of frostbite too.

A Rock sling is a gravity sorcery that is basically slinging rocks at one’s enemies, but it is highly effective when it connects. Use this one to do a large amount of stagger damage to your enemies.

Comet Azur, one of the most infamous of the sorceries in this game, is a beam of energy that continuously damages one’s enemies. They take a lot of magic damage, along with a bunch of stagger damage.

The Carian Slicer is a magic sword that slices through one’s enemies like butter. What’s special about this magical sword is the fact that, unlike the usual sword, this slicer slices at a faster speed. This means a player can expect to cut through enemies in a matter of seconds if they are at the right stat level.

Glintstone Pebble is a sorcery that is obtainable near the start of the game and allows for fast-chained attacks. It scales with stats, and damage increases accordingly. If one has a good amount of FP and intelligence, they can take down bosses super-fast with this little sorcery.

Ashes of War

Ashes of War still work for an Intelligence build; players can equip themselves with a small magic-based weapon such as Bastard’s Stars and use these Ashes.

There are no specific ones here, as these are mostly for melee-based builds in Elden Ring. Gilintstone Pebble makes a comeback as an Ash of War. The Glintblade Phalanx is another effective one. Carian grandeur requires one to be up close to their target but is effective. And finally, the Ice Spear, a magic spear that does frostbite damage to enemies.

An intelligence-based build is usually considered the easy mode for Soulslike titles. Even the developers have agreed to it every now and then. But this does not mean players can just win fight after fight without issues. Things can go wrong, so one must always remember; being agile and light and knowing how to dodge will always help. Other than that, if one decides to follow this guide as it is, they will find themselves playing a far easier game than they were before they started reading it.
