Shroud has been involved with gaming since the dawn of time, and his experience in the industry speaks for itself. He started out as a pro CS:GO player, and now, at 27 years old, is one of the most prominent streamers in the gaming community. One thing fans of the popular streamer will know is that he really loves Apex Legends. Therefore, his pick for the best battle royale game took some people by surprise.
But which game did he pick? Well, the answer to that question is Fortnite.
The reason a lot of people were surprised is that he had said a lot of great things about Apex Legends since he started playing the game back in 2019. And a lot of people in the gaming community seem confused as to why he chose Fortnite over Apex Legends and Warzone.

Warzone was never in the competition since Shroud had always had bad things to say about the game. And it is common knowledge to anyone who’s been a long-time viewer of his streams that Shroud likes Apex Legends much more than Warzone. Despite Shroud mentioning that Respawn should take less time delivering updates, Apex Legends, he used to feel, was still the best BR title out there. But all of that seems to have changed.
Recently, he claimed that Fortnite was the best battle royale title. And the reason, according to him, comes down to how Fortnite allows its players to build. In other battle royale titles, third parties can take you out while you’re engaged in a gunfight. But in Fortnite, even if you’re fighting someone, you can build structures to mitigate your chances of getting shot by a random player. And he seems to believe that it is this ability to build that Fortnite players have that makes the game the best competitive battle royale title.
