Yes, that would be the one straight answer to the question. Backward compatibility, however, does matter in this case. Ever since the Nintendo Switch launched in 2017, console owners have bought numerous types of Joy Cons. Various colors, designs, and combinations have been made available. Some limited editions have also come out such as the fancy Zelda edition.
While fans might want significant upgrades to come to the next Switch model, Nintendo will most likely make an iterative performance upgrade to the Switch 2. President Shuntaro Furukawa himself, in an interview with Bloomberg, stated that the “switch is just in the middle of its lifecycle.”
Nintendo, however, might look to upgrade its new Joy Cons. Those new controllers could feature better vibration and drift-free analogs. Fans of the console are also hoping that the new console supports the use of controllers from the previous generation.

Even the PlayStation 5 has backward compatibility with DualShock 4 controllers. The only twist here is that these controllers can only be used to play PS4 games. And it would not even be a big deal if Nintendo Switch 2 allowed players to use those Joy Cons for older games that were released for older hardware.
These two themes are the biggest factors that fans are currently worried about. Backward compatibility of Switch titles and the compatibility of original Joy Cons. Fans are also expecting the older Switch games to get free next-gen updates, let’s see what direction Nintendo takes this time around.
