The Last of Us Episode 8 gave viewers the ugliest look at the world in this post-apocalyptic world. David comes walking into Ellie’s world and tries to take it over, and she does what she needs to. This is where everybody’s favorite character finally steps into the darkness that she was mostly sheltered from.

Excellent performances are by now a norm with this series, but once again Bella Ramsey has proven her prowess as an actress in this episode. So well that fans are left wondering if she deserves to get an award for her role as Ellie.

When viewers met Ellie for the first time in this series, she was basically a girl with curious immunity. At first, that was the only interesting thing about her character. But slowly, as Bella Ramsey started creeping inside the skin of that character, the character too started getting fleshed out.

For those who were never familiar with Ellie from the games, Bella was the only way to know her. And she did not leave any leaf unturned while playing it. Eventually, every disappointment, every shock, and every bit of sadness were evident on her face.

The most unforgettable moment was her reaction to Sam and Henry’s deaths; some claim her expression shook them up more than the scene itself, which simply proves her dedication to this character. And who can forget that moment in Episode 7 with her friend Riley?

And then comes this latest episode. David is the kind of man who knows how to manipulate people, and he took her for just a kid. And she saw him just as a person looking for ways to survive, and their standoff was where she hit the peak of her performance.

Her performance has been continuously excellent. Without a moment of weakness, fans have felt moments of joy, sadness, shock, and fear through her, and maybe that’s why everyone wants her to win an Emmy. And let’s be honest, standing out when you are acting with an actor like Pedro Pascal becomes an even more strenuous task!
