Top 5 Twitch streaming categories that garnered the maximum viewers
The streaming category chart of Twitch for 2022 showed dramatic shifts. Twitch boasts numerous categories, ranging from ‘Just Chatting’ to live gaming events. Here are the 5 categories that cracked their way into the top 5 list:
1. Just Chatting
Among the pool of many categories, the most dominant one was the ‘Just Chatting’ category. From the beginning of the year to the end of November, the ‘Just Chatting’ category maintained its crown as the most viewed one. It has an average view count of more than 300,000 (7-day average count).
2) Grand Theft Auto V
Rockstar’s brainchild product positions itself in the second position. With tons of DLC patches and interesting custom games that the player pool creates, GTA V didn’t even once fall from the top 5 list. Though it did not overtake the ‘Just Chatting Category’, GTA V has an average count of nearly 150,000 views.
3) League of Legends
Riot’s own battle arena game is the third entry on this list. Just like GTA V, League of Legends didn’t leave the top 5 in the entire year. Though it faced immense competition from the same studio’s FPS shooter Valorant. League of Legends had an average viewer count of 89,000.
4) Valorant
Riot’s latest FPS introduction Valorant has shaken the competitive gaming front. Twitch has become an ideal platform for Valorant streamers in the past year. Valorant maintained its presence for a long time in the top 5 and only fell off the chart for a couple of months during the Overwatch 2 release. Valorant has an average viewer count of 88,000.

5) CS:GO
Considered the OG of FPS competitive games, CS:GO is 5th on the list. Valve’s FPS shooter’s inception into this list is because the category popped up every now and then in the Top 5 during 2022. It maintained its position in the top 5 continuously throughout the months of April, May, and June. CSGO had an average viewership of 37,000.
