The PlayStation 5 is a console that has performed exceedingly well since it entered the market. Originally debuting in November 2020, the console has made a name for itself with its impressive performance, graphical capabilities, and other features that make using the console a treat. However, even while the PlayStation 5 is so popular and loved, fans of the console are finding it increasingly difficult to get their hands on this beloved console.

The shortage is, in fact, so acute that several retailers are organizing various restocks to attract more patrons. Commercial giants such as Target and GameStop are known for adopting these strategies.

In a strange turn of events, however, Verizon, out of all companies, is offering its members a PlayStation 5 console.

Verizon and its PlayStation 5 restock for members

It seems like Verizon is catching on to the console market as well. Jake Randall, an insider in the console industry, who keeps tracks on restocks, had something interesting to show.

Players can head on to the Verizon site where the disc version of the console is available for purchase for members. However, considering the rapid rate at which these consoles sell out, fans should not hold on to hope after a few minutes, tops.

At a time when even giants such as GameStop and Amazon are having a hard time acquiring these consoles for retail, how Verizon did it will probably remain a mystery. That is not all, according to users, a furniture store was offering the console as well!

This news, however, should be taken with a grain of salt.

This restock is, to be honest, quite unexpected. However, this is not the only time Verizon has organized console restocks. During November 2021 as well, precisely a year after the PlayStation 5, the console found itself available for purchase for Verizon members. It seems like the console is so popular that it consistently keeps getting sold out extremely quickly.

These next-gen consoles are facing shortages due to many reasons. Scalpers use bots to mass purchase the units and proceed to resale them at exorbitant rates. The semiconductor supply has made manufacturing the console a problem as well.

All in all, Verizon selling the console is kind of impressive, taking everything into account, if not bizarre.
