The trailer launch of Modern Warfare III has taken the community by storm. After a long wait, developers have finally unveiled the much-anticipated follow-up of MWII. The third chapter in this rebooted sub-series will likely mark an interesting revival for the Call of Duty makers following the criticism faced by the ongoing title. Amidst all the major updates, a piece of unfortunate news might leave many fans upset.

Over the years, Call of Duty has grown as a franchise in many ways. Unarguably, the IP has established itself as the benchmark of excellence. With each coming project, the developers have only aimed higher. A lot of the series’ success thus goes to the makers. But before Modern Warfare III’s arrival, a veteran who served CoD for almost 19 years has announced his departure. 

Black Ops developer David Vonderhaar expresses gratitude to the Call of Duty community as he leaves Activision

Mr. Vonderhaar worked for Activision and Treyarch for almost 19 years. During his tenure, the legend worked on 8 successful Call of Duty titles. These numbers are just the surface of what David has contributed to the action franchise. Moreover, he was also a part of all major transitions and innovative decisions taken in the last few years, especially in the Black Ops sub-series. 

David Vonderhaar recently took to LinkedIn to share the big update with a lengthy post. He emphasized on the learnings he would be taking away from the years of experience. Talking about his journey over the years he wrote: “I’m immensely grateful for the time we invested working to improve our craft, never sitting on successes, and always wondering how to improve what we design and how we produce it.”

Vonderhaar also extended his gratitude to the Call of Duty community. “Thank you to the Call of Duty community for your passion and enthusiasm. That energy has often fueled our determination as a studio and individuals. I will always be grateful for the opportunity to interact with so many of you directly online and in person. This energy will always be a massive part of me”, read the post

Although the fact that he wouldn’t be associated with Activision is hard to process, there’s something to be excited about. The fan-favorite developer is confirmed to be serving the gaming community further as he is currently working on an upcoming project.

Officially, he hasn’t shared anything as of now besides a tease for the future plans. But this update may spark plenty of theories and speculations. It will be interesting to see what the man has to offer after moving on from Call of Duty.  In any case, the legacy he has left behind would keep on ruling the industry. Wishing him a lot more labels under his name.
