Sega is going to announce its upcoming project at The Game Awards 2021. On December 7th, 2021, the official Twitter account of Sonic the Hedgehog teased this exciting news. Where a post by Sonic asks Geoff Keighley that whether he has any extra invites to The Game Awards. To which, Geoff Keighley replies that they don’t even follow him on Twitter. And just after, Sonic the Hedgehog followed Geoff Keighley, thanking him for an extra invite.

This conversion is hilarious and a little surprising as well. For the fans who are unfamiliar with Geoff Keighley, he is a Canadian journalist and is the current host of The Game Awards 2021.

As of now, it’s confirmed that Sega has some big plans for The Game Awards. Moreover, it’s very likely that it’s going to be a Sonic the Hedgehog project announcement. However, these are speculations and it’s still not confirmed that what exactly the announcement will be about.

What to expect from the Sonic the Hedgehog announcement and The Game Awards 2021

Considering Sonic the Hedgehog, there are two projects which the devs are likely to announce. The first one is the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie and the second one is Sonic Frontiers. For the fans who are unfamiliar with both of these projects; Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a movie that is a sequel to the 2020 release Sonic the Hedgehog. And if it’s really Sonic the Hedgehog 2, then the devs will probably release the full official trailer of this movie as it is yet to be released. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will release on April 8th, 2022.

Sonic Frontiers is rumored to be the next upcoming Sonic video game. Moreover, about the game; devs are yet to make any official confirmation. Anyway, The Game Awards is also very popular for announcements of video games and similar other projects. So, fans can even get to experience some more announcements. As far as now, only our beloved host Geoff Keighley knows all the announcements and other secrets. All the Sonic fans must keep their eye on The Game Awards, which is scheduled for this Thursday.
