Some say the Pokemon franchise is the bread and butter of Nintendo. While it’s not exclusively true, Pokemon is one of the franchises that keeps Nintendo’s ship afloat. All thanks to the number of copies each entry sells every generation.
Their last releases, Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet were no exception; they sold over 10 million copies during their launch weekend. To continue this streak, Nintendo has lined up two new Pokemon games to be released this year, but there’s a trick here.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are still somewhat shaky on the Nintendo Switch; the games run pretty badly, and they still have a bunch of bugs and glitches that continuously ruin playthroughs. While developer Game Freak is in the process of fixing the base games and releasing the announced expansion packs for the games, Nintendo has announced new editions for these titles.

These new editions are named Pokémon Scarlet + The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Bundle and Pokémon Violet + The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Bundle. These games, as their names suggest, come bundled with the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC. This would be a decent package if Nintendo decided to price it correctly.

For those unaware, Pokemon Vilet and Scarlet were released in November 2022. And these games were, unsurprisingly, very successful. These were the first mainline games ever in the series to employ a fully open world, which made these games more third-person than overhead.

The games were praised by everyone for this new direction and the amount of content they offered but were criticized for having numerous performance and graphical issues. Game Freak has been doing its best to fix this, all the while working on all the DLCs and online events for these games. Let’s hope these games are fixed until these new editions launch later this year, on November 3rd.
A new game seems to be in the works too!
Besides everything that Nintendo and Game Freak are doing, they are also hard at work on the next installment in the series. This new installment is said to have something to do with DSi’s Pokemon Black and White. Some say these new games would be remakes of the DSi classics; others say sequels. We would simply wait for the announcement.
