In this interview, Sarah Bond was asked about how Xbox Game Pass is benefiting the company and how the company is doing outside of it. Bond responded that since the launch of Game Pass in 2018, it has been very successful, and the company has been investing in it continuously. She has also stated that gaining access to the games through Game Pass encourages users to buy those games separately on the Xbox Store to get lifetime access. That’s why Bond exclaimed, ”Purchases outside of Xbox Game Pass are also increasing.”
She believes that games are fundamentally based on a community. Players find that having an Xbox Game Pass makes it easy to share the same library with friends and their own community and play together.

Xbox Game Pass also allows creators to make games while taking creative risks, knowing there is a certain community that will play the game for sure. Last but not least, this is how Bond feels about the Game Pass: “We are very happy about the Xbox Game Pass. It’s good for players, it’s good for creators, and it’s good for our business.”
Huge revenue grasped by Xbox
In the recently leaked Xbox slide deck from the FTC vs. Microsoft case, significant data about the revenues generated from Game Pass was revealed. It showed that Xbox Game Pass generated $9.26 per subscriber on average. As of January 2023, Xbox has a subscriber base of approximately 25 million. So, keeping the average revenue in mind, Xbox’s estimated revenue in April 2022 comes up to around a whopping $231.5 million.
