When Sony revealed the PlayStation 5, its biggest USP was its super-fast SSD. Everyone was talking about it. Processing powers and GPUs were important too, but the next generation was going to be all about fast storage.

They showed the speed of that SSD by showing a modified demo of Spider-Man, a game previously launched for the PS4, and ran beautifully on its native system. But it ran at 30 frames per second; Insomniac Games made that game run at 60 frames per second and claimed it was possible thanks to the high streaming capabilities of this new SSD.

And now this would help them bring a ground-breaking new feature to PlayStation 5’s most anticipated game of 2023.

PlayStation 5 exclusive Spider-Man 2 might follow in the footsteps of the MCU!

When Insomniac launched Ratchet and Clank Rift for PS 5, it was an instant hit. The game was beautiful to look at, but its most significant feature was the rift! Ratchet could jump from one reality to another using some rifts without seeing a single loading screen. This was possible thanks to that fast SSD.

Last year in Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness, the protagonist was seen doing something similar, jumping from one reality to another very seamlessly. That was, of course, a movie and was not running on a system in real time. But now, it is rumored that this thing might return in Spider-Man 2, thanks to those SSD!

This means Insomniac will be pushing the multiverse theory in this upcoming superhero sequel, and fans are hysterical over this news. It has to be seen how factual this information actually is; that would only be confirmed if the developers talk about it or after the game itself launches.

And there’s indeed a possibility; if developers have tools to do something, why wouldn’t they?

Would Wolverine be part of this too?

So, if this theory about Spider-Man 2 having a multiverse mechanic is true, this might mean that there are chances for another Insomniac PlayStation 5 exclusive superhero game to be part of this universe too.

Fans might even see Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and Wolverine fight together, or maybe each other. It is for now just the fantasy of some excited fans, but it would not take much if Insomniac decided to turn this into reality!
