Rumored PS5 Exclusive From Days Gone Developer to Be a Stealth Title “In the Vain of MGSV and Spiritual Successor to Syphon Filter”

The Sony PlayStation 5 is among the top-selling consoles of the current generation. There’s a very simple reason for this success: exclusives. Ever since the first PlayStation console made its debut back in 1994, exclusives have allowed these consoles to stand apart.

Sony even keeps a steady flow of such exclusives; from third-party exclusives like Final Fantasy XVI to first-party games such as Spider-Man 2, there’s hardly any shortage of such games. And now, keeping up with this tradition, yet another first-party game is in development as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

Days Gone developer Bend Studio is working on an exclusive PlayStation 5 stealth game!

Stealth games have become a rarity nowadays; games like Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell have become a thing of the past, it seems. But it looks like Sony and Bend Studio have decided to bring the genre back with a bang, as the former is developing a stealth action title for PlayStation 5.

A leak has revealed that it would be an open-world game and would take inspiration from the Metal Gear Solid series. Besides that, the leak also suggests that this game would be a spiritual successor to Sony’s own Syphon Philter series. The game would also feature some sort of multiplayer mode and would obviously be a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

For those unaware, 989 Studios was the one that created the Syphon Philter series for PlayStation. The series made its PlayStation debut in 1999. It spawned numerous sequels, and eventually, it was passed on to Bend Studio. Hence, it is very interesting that Sony chose Bend Studio to work on this new game too.

From the looks of it, the game seems to have been in development for at least three to four years. The last Bend Studio game, “Days Gone,” was launched back in 2019. It was met with mixed reviews; people were praising its gameplay while highly criticizing its story. Here’s hoping they find the right balance between a good story and good gameplay this time around.

What does being inspired by Metal Gear Solid mean?

This new PlayStation 5 exclusive game is an open-world project and being inspired by Metal Gear Solid means one thing: they have a great appreciation for Metal Gear Solid 5. That was the only true open-world game in that series.

Anything that came even close to being open was Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Given the fact that Snake Eater is getting its own remake, we are guessing this new and upcoming title would have some similarities with MGS V Phantom Pain.

Any official news on this title is nowhere to be seen as of yet. Here’s hoping it comes with that long-rumored State of Play event.
