EA Sports announced last week that a new studio named Cliffhanger Games is in the works. With offices in Vancouver, LA and Austin, the new studio will be led by industry vets. Some of these designers will be coming with experiences of working on titles like God of War, Halo and even Call of Duty. Additionally, the first IP of the studio was announced to be Marvel’s Black Panther.
As the comics giants are about to celebrate the 57th debut of Wakanda’s protector, fans couldn’t wait to know more about it. EA also said that an accurate depiction of the mythical super-power, that is Wakanda, is the sole focus of the developing team.
Now, a job posting by the new studio seems to have given away more details about Black Panther, that has Redditors spiraling. Cliffhanger Games seem to have a few vacancies that are looking to get experienced developers onboard for the Wakandan adventure.
Open-world single-player RPG on UE5
Cliffhanger Games recently posted two jobs for the roles of Senior Game Designer and Senior Software Engineer. The specifications and requirements for these positions seem to align well with previous speculations about Black Panther. The Senior Game Designer is required to “oversee the creative and technical implementation of encounters, systems and activities across an open world game”. This is noteworthy for the fans as it may give away the information that the Black Panther IP is likely to be set in an open-world set-up.
On the other hand, the Senior Software Engineer will be tasked with the primary role of “working closely with our art and design teams to create, extend and support our UE5 based content creation pipelines.” The fact that Unreal Engine 5 is shown favor over EA’s own Frostbite Engine is definitely interesting to many. Furthermore, a software engineer is also being sought by the devs who can work on a “highly innovative Open Story system.” This news will no doubt spark more speculations and fans can’t wait for an official announcement.
