High on Life is a game of severe first-person shooter experience with weird talking guns and crude humor. However, apart from its Rick and Morty-style self-awareness, it seems that the gameplay of the new alternate alien world shooter is actually promising. The best part about the game is that it is extremely critical about itself and thus leaves a very thin margin of error that can actually be criticized upon.

High on Life is one of the most polished AAA games of this year. This raises a critical question of what the industry is actually doing with its product, and why a game like High on Life is getting pushed down by relied-upon critics while being loved by the audience.
‘High on Life’ breaks conventional first-person shooter module
If you have ever watched a single episode of Rick and Morty by the brutally creative mind of Justin Roiland, you might be aware of the fact that the creator knows what he is doing. The fact that the game makes it noticeable from the very first intro tells it all.
According to several sources, it can be noticed that they all enjoyed the type of humor that High on Life offers. The game is basically about an alien species looking to trade humans as drugs and an alien gun helping a gamer, save his planet. Noticeably, the plot of the game is as meta as Rick and Morty, and thus it feels like you are in an episode of the famous adult show.

Apart from its humor though, one thing that the game gets right is its shooting mechanism, which is surprisingly polished and does not feel forced. However, the range and power of a few guns, especially a shotgun feels not very powerful. The shotgun feels mostly like shooting a gun with a small range at mid-power.
What do the reviewers say?
Even with all these plus points, the critics don’t seem to be much convinced, as the game does not fit in the tried and tested standards of a first-person shooter. Thus, although fans are excited to play the game, the critics beg to differ.
