There is a high chance of Call Of Duty landing on past-generation consoles, so don’t throw them away if you plan to.
The Call Of Duty world was in shackles on December 4, 2022, after it witnessed a data breach of upcoming games. Apparently, a Twitter user named vxunderground posted key COD details on his personal account, baffling fans. In that, one could view images from multiple projects that the franchise planned for the next two years. To name a few, one could see Modern Warfare 2 upcoming DLC, Call of Duty 2023 (Codenamed Jupiter) and Call of Duty 2024 (Codenamed Cerberus), as well as sensitive employee information.

However, this was the second time COD data was breached, as a few months back, rumors confirmed Treyarch to develop a fresh game for 2024. According to the reports, Activision had appointed the Black Ops developer to make it happen as they had a few other projects to focus on.
Fresh rumors suggest that the upcoming COD games, mainly the 2023 ones, might feature on long-time consoles.

“What adds a little credence to the potential of another past-generation game for Call of Duty though, is that Call of Duty now runs off the same engine, no matter which studio is developing it. Such a change, which was implemented for COD 2.0 is to make the development cycle more seamless across studios.”
And now, the company is focusing on getting multiple deals through – the recent one being a 10-year deal with Nintendo to bring COD to life. But, if we have to dive deep into it, the Nintendo Switch remains the only console to run Activision-published games. So, if reports suggest Cerebrus run on past consoles, the franchise has to lower the specs, inviting a fresh player base.
