EA, Electronic Arts, has held quite a few lucrative licenses across its lifetime. Its agreement with FIFA lets EA use the moniker for its soccer franchise, one of the finest sports titles around. Likewise, its exclusivity agreement with Star Wars meant that fans only saw EA produced Star Wars games for a decade.
However, with the decade-long agreement being almost at its end, fans are finally getting a glimpse of what the future of the franchise could look like.
Star Wars Eclipse is one notable title that fans have been looking forward to. While its brilliant trailer captured the community’s interest, they might have to wait years before they get to jump into its mysterious world.

Star Wars Eclipse is still years away on the horizon
The unfortunate tweet from Star Wars Stuff reveals that the hotly anticipated title is nowhere near its release date. It has reportedly run into hiring trouble, as the team is struggling to bring in the staff to make their project a reality. Significantly, while fans were aware during its reveal that the title is years away, nobody expected such a drastic release schedule.
The community greeted the trailer for Star Wars Eclipse with notable fanfare during The Game Awards 2021. The Quantic Dream developed title raised fan intrigue because of its mysterious tone and hype-inducing elements. From massive spacefaring battles to a standoff between Jedi and an entire army, the trailer had it all.
And the developer seemed to count on that hype to reel in talent who could help turn their vision into a reality, as reported by Xfire.

However, despite the exciting trailer, Quantic Dream could not secure the developer talent they were hoping for. Leading to the disappointing news that the game is now set to release a whopping 5 years down the line.

Furthermore, Tom Henderson from Xfire also draws attention to the fact that there is online evidence for this lack of employees. The studio had posted 60 job listings in France previously, and those vacancies still stand today. The strategy to attract employees via means of a spectacular presentation hasn’t worked out too well for the studio.
