The world of streaming has found new icons who have replaced the old guard. The latest reports of the third quarter of 2021 shed light on new kings and queens of both Twitch and YouTube Gaming. Former professional Overwatch player, xQc has gained a massive fanbase in his time on Twitch.

With his highly entertaining streams and edgy humor, fans just can’t help themselves but tune in each day. He has roped in millions of viewers with 49 million hours’ total watch time. In the case of female streamers, ASMR content creator Amouranth pulled in a watch time of 12 million hours. This crucial information has been revealed in the latest Q3 report of 2021, which has been compiled by Stream Hatchet.

xQc and Amouranth’s engagement pale’s in comparison with their peers

Although xQc topped the chart, it just failed to translate into viewer engagement. Fellow streamers like Shroud, Ibai, Gaules had a much better reach despite recording less watch-time. Similar Amouranth also suffered greatly in terms of social engagement, as Valkyrae and Pekora from YouTube recorded much higher social engagement.

This clearly suggests the top-tier streamers of both platforms don’t have the same engagement beyond the streaming platform. Viewers prefer to engage with the streamers on either Twitch or YouTube. However, Valkyrae, & Auronplay were much more successful in engaging with their audience on Instagram, Twitter, and other platforms.

Fans tend to interact with streamers who maintain an active content feed beyond their streaming platform. The now co-owner of 100Thieves, Valkyrae, enjoys a fantastic social connection because of her high level of activity. The streamer always has something new for her fans, and musical projects with Bella Porch, MGK, and more have propelled her to global stardom.
