Microsoft’s Xbox console has been short on exclusives compared to PlayStation for the longest time. Only after they acquired Zenimax did they get access to a bunch of worthy exclusive software. From the Doom series to Bethesda’s latest magnum opus, Starfield, Microsoft has a lot to show off.
In terms of developers, Microsoft got one of the most outstanding developers of our time, Arcane. This developer, which started life with Dishonored, has established itself as a class A developer. Every single one of their games has been excellent. And their latest game, Redfall, would be exclusive to Xbox and PC, but this was not the case when it started development!

Arcane Studios is known for making some really outstanding games. Those games also stand out due to their inventive gameplay ideas and some really excellent art styles. The same is the case with their latest title “Redfall”. This first-person, cooperative horror action game is set to launch for Xbox consoles and PC in May.
But during an interview with IGN, this game’s creative director, Harvey Smith, revealed that this game started development with all the platforms in mind. It was initially coming to PCs, Xbox consoles, and PlayStation.
But once Microsoft acquired Arcane’s parent company, Zenimax, they were told that this game would now skip PlayStation 5. He specifically said, “[Microsoft] came in and they said, ‘No PlayStation 5, we’re focusing on Xbox, PC, and the Game Pass.”

It’s not even surprising that Microsoft actually acquired this company to expand its exclusive library. And PlayStation has been known to do the same for the longest time now. Fans might remember the PlayStation 5 and PC-exclusive Deathloop, which initially skipped Xbox. It did make its way to Xbox consoles a year or so later, though.
It is not known if Redfall would be timed exclusive to Xbox and PC or if it is a done deal. But if this game is missing Sony’s console, it is pretty evident that PlayStation owners would be missing out on a very unique title.

This is a bummer, given the fact that this game seems like great fun; some of its developers even classified it as a darker, supernatural, crazier Far Cry game. The game itself would be launching on May 2, 2023, for Xbox, PC, and Game Pass.
