Rockstar Games is one of the most celebrated game studios in the scene. With games like Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, Bully, LA Noire, and more under their belt, the studio has entertained fans since its inception back in 1998. The first GTA game was released in 1997, and the series has come a long way since then. This year the studio is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of GTA 5. On the occasion of the anniversary, many fans took to X to celebrate online, but it was one post in the community that caught a lot of attention.

Ned Luke, the voice actor for Michael in GTA 5, celebrated a decade of the game by making a post on X (formerly Twitter). While the post was a normal tweet of him wishing happy birthday to Grand Theft Auto V, the post went viral. With over 1 million views on the post, Roger Clark, the voice actor of Arthur from RDR2, went on to congratulate the GTA 5 team by reposting the tweet. This got the fans excited to see the two prominent names associated with Rockstar sharing and celebrating the games a decade after its release. What really got the fans’ attention was Ned’s response to Roger’s tweet.

Roger Clark’s repost on Twitter was captioned with a simple shoutout to the game for reaching a huge milestone. The post was captioned “10 years of 5 and it’s still a chart topper – unprecedented”. It was to this caption that Ned Luke commented on. Ned said “It really is remarkable Roger. And RDR2 is heading in the same direction.” The Grand Theft Auto V voice actor shared his thoughts on RDR 2 continuing to be a successful title for at least a decade post its release.

Just like Grand Theft Auto V, RDR2 also had an extremely successful launch. While one was released back in 2013 and the latter in 2018, both these games have become a benchmark for what is considered to be a good open-world game. Over the years, GTA 5 has gone on to sell over a staggering 185 million copies of the game making it the second highest sold game, after Minecraft. Although the numbers aren’t as impressive as GTA 5, RDR2 sold over 55 million copies globally.

Being someone who has worked with Rockstar Games for a while, Ned’s comment gives fans a reason to believe that RDR2 is on its way to dominating their genre for a decade at least. The initial success of RDR2 was extremely impressive and the game still holds up with time. With an average of upwards of 50k players playing the game at any given time, it doesn’t look like the RDR2 is going anywhere, anytime soon.

Grand Theft Auto V celebrates 10 years!

On September 17, 2013, Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto V, and it’s been 10 years since then. The game is still one of the most popular games on the planet with around 150k players playing the game at most instances. In honor of GTAV’s 10th anniversary, the developers express their gratitude to the players for their support over the years.
