A few years back, former ski racer, Lindsey Vonn Vignette, caught several PlayStation users’ attention through her motivational speech for a promotion video.

Some of the highlighting features of the PS5 console are that it offers gorgeous 4K performance, stunningly fast load times, and a truly game-changing controller that makes playing games more immersive and tactile than ever. Moreover, it allows most of the PS4 games to run and load better than ever before.

Naturally, PlayStation is known for its popular titles like Spider-Man, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, GTA series, and many more. Back in 2018, former ski racer Lindsey Vonn Vignette appeared in a promotion video for Steep for PlayStation 4. During the video, she also shared her personal ski racing experience with viewers.

THROWBACK: When former ski racer Lindsey Vonn Vignette advertised Steep launch on PlayStation 4

Steep is an open-world action sports game featuring skiing, wingsuit flying, snowboarding, and para-gliding. Surprisingly, for the promotion video of Steep’s launch, Ubisoft featured a famous entity, Lindsey Vonn Vignette.

In her career, Vonn has totaled three Olympic medals. She earned a gold medal in downhill and bronze in the super-G at the 2010 Vancouver Games, and earn another bronze medal in the downhill at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games.

During the video, she discussed her love for ski racing. She said, “I love what I do. I’m not afraid. You have worked your entire life for those few seconds. That thrill is very exciting, and that’s why I love ski racing. I like the adrenaline. I like going fast. You know, I crash a lot, but I am ready to risk everything.”

Indeed, Vonn’s appearance helped Ubisoft a lot in promoting its extreme sports video game title as it sold 175,935 units first week at retail. Furthermore, breaking down the sales by platform, the game sold best on the PlayStation 4 with  sold (69%), compared to 54,768 units sold on the Xbox One (31%).
