Not many fans might be knowing this, but there’s a deep history between Michael Jackson and Sonic the Hedgehog. It goes back to the time of 1992 when the gaming publisher had just started building up the now immortal saga.

When Michael Jackson visited Sega America and became a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog!

A Twitter account that keeps sharing golden moments from the history of Sonic the Hedgehog recently dropped a classic picture from the year 1992. Now what’s special about this image is that it features none other than the popular artist Michael Jackson himself, sitting in a Sega office in the U.S.

The King of Pop had once visited the American office of Sega when it was just starting out with the Sonic franchise. And after his first visit, the relation between him and the character of the furry blue speedster grew even stronger. That’s because he also ended up writing the music for the Sonic 3 game. Moreover, this fact was recently confirmed by Sonic creator Yuji Naka himself.

He posted this in reply to his own tweet in which he wondered about the change of song in Sonic Origins 3. While answering this question, he wrote that it was the case indeed despite the fact that Sega still uses Michael Jackson’s music.

That’s a rare piece of information that is now out in the open. However, Sega had allegedly removed Jackson from Sonic 3 in the past due to the controversies surrounding him. Hence, he was never officially credited for the music.
