Nintendo Switch exclusive The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is one of the best examples of how developers should approach sandbox game design. Just letting players go is something many developers were very scared of doing. There’s a reason, however, for developers not being comfortable about giving players certain freedoms.
Some gamers find this kind of open-ended experience overwhelming. For such gamers, here are a few tips to make their gameplay much more rewarding during the initial stages!
Do not forget Recall

In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, enemies have a habit of throwing stuff at Link. Weapons, rocks, and boulders—they would throw just about anything at him. Using recall can turn the tables and protect players from some serious damage.
These boulders hurt like hell, and they can even prove fatal if one has very little health.
Recall can make you fly
Those gliders are a fun distraction, aren’t they? Players just have to put them on a rail specially designed for them and fly off into the skies. But sometimes players have a glider but no rail in sight. What should they do then?
Just use Ultrahand to lift the glider over the edge, and keep it back on the ground. Then climb on the glider and use recall. The glider would then go back to its original position in the air, and players would find themselves soaring through the skies.
Fuse a ruby onto your shield
Ruby is a very handy component indeed. Players can use it with an arrow and blow-up numerous enemies in a second. But this is like wasting a very useful resource. Instead, players should attack it with a shield, and simply block the oncoming attacks.
This would blow up Link’s enemies but would not do any harm to Link. And it can be used more than once this way.

Link has a Cookbook
Cooking is a central part of this game, and it is pretty crucial for Link’s survival too. It is recommended that players keep mixing and matching different ingredients in order to get different and better results.
And once one finds a dish that is useful, one can simply go to the food page and check its recipe. This would take them to the cookbook. This cookbook would contain recipes for every dish Link has cooked to that point.
Get Your Horses
Horses were pretty useful in Breath of the Wild; they have some uses in Tears of the Kingdom too. But catching horses and breaking them once again is a chore that many don’t care for.

They can simply make sure their Breath of the Wild save is in that switch, and that would transfer all the horses from that prequel to this sequel.
