FromSoftware games have a notorious reputation for being incredibly hard and unforgiving, but it has never stopped gamers all around the world from diving into the rich and vast world that FromSoft games provide. In their list of masterpieces, some of the most well-known titles are the Dark Souls series, Sekiro, and last year’s Game of the Year, Elden Ring.

While many players take a step back when it comes to FromSoft games due to the incredibly hard-to-master difficulty curve, there is a group of players who take pleasure in the challenge. When it comes to using brainwaves to knock down massive enemies, the first character that comes to mind is Marvel’s Professor X, who has a special mutation that enables him to weaponize his neuro flow. Making the fantasy into a reality, Twitch streamer Perrikaryal has also learned how to kill God-like beings, only using her brain.

Perri uses a brain imaging device that can recognize her brainwave patterns, which can be mapped to different actions in the game. Although it may sound plausible, doing an action as simple as attacking can take days’ worth of mapping and practice. Perri had to train her brain to produce the exact waves she needs every single time.

In an interview with GamesRadar, Perri said she uses an electroencephalogram (EEG) for her challenges. According to her, “EEG isn’t very good at placing where signals are coming from, [but it’s] really good at figuring out when they’re happening.” To make it easier for the machine to recognize her brain activity, Perri had to use a saline solution, which might result in a bit of a damp head.

But coding and hardware tweaks aren’t the only things behind her success. Perri had to go through “maybe 11 hours of straight training” every day to perfect her craft. Even then, Perri said she wasn’t happy with the results – “it works, but it’s sometimes unreliable, and I have to keep adjusting it.”
