Amazon Studios officially orders the God of War live-action series
Amazon Studios have been in talks with Sony about turning God of War into a live-action series. It seems like the success of the latest entry in the series has convinced them to finally take this conversation to the next level. They have finally gone ahead and ordered a full series based on this successful series.
The series as per VGC has been in development since March 2022. But Amazon only cemented everything recently and hence the public announcement.
Rafe Judkins would be the series showrunner. Before this, he worked on Amazon’s Wheel of Time series, which is based on a bestseller fantasy novel series. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, the writers of Ironman, Children of Men, and The Expanse will be penning the screenplay.
While Yumi Yang, Head of Sony Santa Monica Studios, game’s creative director Cory Barlog, and PlayStation Productions head Asad Qizilbash, would be involved as executive producers.
This involvement of the original creators is being seen as a very positive sign by the fans. They are hoping that this would prevent the series from straying too much from its central ideas.
Fans everywhere are conflicted about this announcement
Ever since the news broke, the debates over who should play Kratos have started once again. Fans want their choice of actors to play the character. Some are stating their concerns about the production while others are just excited that it is finally happening.

With all this talk of wrong casting in the God of war series, I hope they don't cast a human as this guy! This would really boil my blood tbh! pic.twitter.com/Fiu264iykX

Skipping Kratos's origins sucks. They should have just done one season that compiles 1-3 and Ghost of Sparta. Then you can do multiple seasons on GOW 2018 and Ragnarok
