Grand Theft Auto V has been the biggest and arguably the most profitable project that Rockstar studios have ever produced. The Urban RPG title managed to keep it afloat for nearly 10 years and is showing no sign of slowing down. Even the developers have realized this fact and have been supporting the game over the years. In addition to new DLC content, the support from the community has been extraordinary.

Prominent community-driven services, game modes, and various projects have definitely helped keep the game alive. The yearly content drop and updates helped the game reach heights of success. However, the title did not get everything right, and the voice actor for Franklin, Shawn Fonteno shared his take on the matter.

RockStar could have let Franklin express a bit more in GTA V

GTA V’s life-cycle may seem unending, but the game isn’t perfect by any means. In a recent interview, Shawn Fonteno shed light on his only issue with the game. He stated that Franklin was the only weak link among the trio and his personality was overshadowed by other cast members. Despite being a hardened criminal, who knows how to fix any situation, he did not ooze the same amount of confidence.

He said,” I wish Franklin could have been just wild, just let him loose, because he was like a punk in a sense. He was like a not a punk, no! he was a f***g punk man. Cause he really didn’t get to crack open”

Fonteno understands that the portrayal of Franklin was all for the storyline and it was aimed at highlighting his desperation to learn from the veterans in Michael, and Trevor. However, the voice actor feels the studio could have given him some wild moments to bring him into the spotlight.

“Franklin should have at least had a few m***g blow-ups, on Trevor, on Michael, on Lamar definitely, because he got on my f***g nerves. If you play the game, Lamar gets on your f***g nerves man.”

The studio indeed shined a massive light on him in the latest DLC update ‘The Contract’, which even brought Music Mogul, Dr Dre, into the game. Apparently, Franklin kick-started a unique business, where he solves special problems of special people in exchange for a lucrative reward. Sadly, such a massive shift in his character arc was missing in the main storyline, which could have added more depth to him.
