Grand Theft Auto, from its very early age, is all about crime and giving statements against societal norms. With its satirical approach and non-apologetic narrative, the game had always tried to tell something bigger than itself. But in recent times, it has become really difficult to think of anything that Rockstar can actually get past.
Grand Theft Auto 6 might be one of the most hated game
The love and passion that fans have for the GTA franchise are immense. It is common knowledge that no other game had come even close to the success of the GTA franchise in the genre. That’s why with the passing years, fans have been waiting for the latest installment so eagerly.
Even though according to some insiders, Grand Theft Auto 6 might become the most sold game of this generation, it has the probability of receiving backlash. As they think that the game might not be appropriate for many fans these days.
No matter how GTA 6 releases in terms of map, characters, story, what there is to do etc. I can't help but think that the gaming community will hate on it.
It's probably going to be the biggest selling game of all time, but I'm intrigued to see the communities reaction.

I'm on the fence about how I feel about GTA's future. I love the humor/satire, but I also know that times have changed and some stuff isn't appropriate "these days". Rockstar has a huge balancing act to figure out IMO. But I think no matter what they do, it won't be enough tbh.

Notably, the satire used in the previous installments of the game was highly appreciated.

But with the new ideologies and cultural changes in society, many think that Rockstar Games will not be able to handle the negative backlash from fans this time. Although, it is the opposite for many, as they want Rockstar Games to go all out and not hold back.
From what the rumors are saying with the shakeups at rockstar, I think peoples biggest issues will stem from rockstar holding back & taking out what makes GTA the game that it is. I’m all for respect & inclusion but GTA made a name for itself by not holding back.

Many think that Rockstar Games might be able to develop a much more so game than the previous installments based on the success of RDR 2.
I think I can trust Rockstar just off the fact that expectations for their last game were genuinely through the fucking roof and they managed to surpass them in every way, at worst I think GTA 6 will be around RDR2 levels detail with a GTA5 level story tbh pic.twitter.com/6HBOSkCsO7

But the fact that the development team was changed after that raises a lot of eyebrows.
What might go wrong?
The jokes and satire used by Rockstar to convey its narrative were always a bit too offensive for many. But many also think that’s the way it is meant to be to bring the realism of the society to its players. But due to the cultural change in the past few years, Rockstar Games has decided to not go that way anymore.
With its previous superhit game Red Dead Redemption 2, it was proven that a game doesn’t need satirical commentary to make it successful. But the fact that these commentaries made Grand Theft Auto what it is today can’t be overlooked.

there is no way it can live up to everyone’s hype because everyone expects different things. Some want it to build off of RDR 2’s mechanics, some want it to be set in the entire United States, some people want it to be 80s, some want it to be this or that.

Gradually, people might accept it the way it is or avoid it for just the sake of it. One thing is for sure, GTA 6 can’t be avoided no matter what. Fans may love it or hate it, but they can’t stop thinking about it. That’s the legacy of this franchise.
