However, this Larian Studios title is also receiving some criticism for being a turn-based game. The trend of making turn-based games has dwindled over time, with the like of Final Fantasy also switching over to RPG elements. But the reception Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting might change the perspective of the game studios.

Since its full release on August 3, the Larian Studios title has become a fan-favorite. Recently YouTuber Mightykeef shared his honest opinion on the success of the Larian Studios title. He said, “Never want to hear ‘Turn base games won’t sell’ or ‘Turn-based games are outdated’ ever again. Baldur’s Gate 3 [is] doing numbers.” With this, he shared that the game reached a whopping number of above 800k concurrent players.

However, critics have come forward to point the title can be successful for a variety of reasons. They are pointing out that the title has been in early access since 2020, meaning it already has a loyal fan base. Furthermore, they are calling the level of freedom being offered in this game the reason for its success.

Whatever may be the reason for its success, the game at its core is a turn-based title. Fans have pointed out that the gameplay of Baldur’s Gate 3 is not just about hitting the attack button. Baldur’s Gate 3’s success has prompted many turn-based title fans to share their honest opinions on what they want. And they are chanting for only one thing, the game studios to make more turn-based titles.

Furthermore, players are now asking Final Fantasy XVI devs to return to their turn-based roots looking at the success of the Larian Studios title.
