PlayStation Will Keep 3rd Person Games on Its Priority List, Confirms Jim Ryan

2023 is the year for PlayStation users. This year many PS exclusives such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will make their grand appearance to offer gamers a never-felt-before experience. Following that, PS users are surely having their time of the year. And Sony’s Boss Jim Ryan added more fuel to the excitement confirming that PlayStation will continue prioritizing more third-person games. But for that, the gameplay narrative has to offer a great story. Fair enough!

Now Fortnite to World War Z, these PS third-person games are very famous among users. From gameplay exclusive to landmark narrative, these titles are now almost legendary. And following that, Sony’s intention to hold onto third-person titles didn’t look very strange. 

Sony boss confirms PS’s priority on third-person games 

Recently in an interview with Famitsu magazine, Sony’s Jim Ryan narrated some of their strategy with PS5’s sale. In this strategy, he mentioned how PS will always make games that offer beautiful narratives but are from a third-person perspective. Now looking at Final Fantasy XVI and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, fans can surely understand Sony’s obsession with third-person games.

Not just that, Ryan also mentioned how with these titles PS is expecting a skyrocketed sale of their PS5 device- “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, is being developed exclusively for PS5, so the developers have made no compromises. We ask them to focus on maximizing the functions of the PS5 and creating the best works. As a result, we’ve received feedback from game fans that it looks like they’ll be able to enjoy really beautiful visuals and a wonderful experience.”

While Ryan’s comments directed how the company focuses on third-person PS exclusive titles to enhance the experience of current PS owners, he thinks releasing the title for PC after two or three years is acceptable. Now that the gamers do not oppose this idea as long as they get to play their favorite PS titles, Sony can continue depending on their third-person PS games for market sustainability. 

Some upcoming PS5 exclusive third-person titles for game enthusiasts

Now that we heard about Sony’s great expectation for its PS exclusive third-person titles, let’s have a look at two such most-awaited titles, which can surely brighten up fans’ minds. 

1. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Developed by Insomniac Games, Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a treasure trove for action-adventure lovers. Not just exploring New York City in an open-world platform, but this third-person title will offer a double delight of two Spider-Man characters. From more than 150 styles to deck up your Spidey character to some gruesome villains like Dr. Octopus, unleash the adventurer in you this 20th of October with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

2. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

Phantom Liberty is Cyberpunk 2077‘s one and only DLC. It will offer a new narrative with new characters and weapons. From Idris Alba as Solomon Reed to more deadly gameplay mechanics, be a part of a try spy-thriller journey in Dogtown. Cyberpunk 2077’s massive monster expansion, Phantom Liberty will be released on the 26th of September. 

PlayStation seemed quite hopeful with these exclusive third-person games. In fact, these game’s huge attention to building a story is remarkable. And that’s what brought fans to such PS-exclusive titles. Now that John Paquette also thinks Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a potential card for PS5s, Sony is probably on the right path. However, the main judgment awaits from the players. However, for that, Sony has to wait for these titles to hit the market.
