The first major title we can expect during this May showcase is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
The sequel to the popular 2018 Marvel’s Spider-Man, which was an exclusive PlayStation title, Spider-Man 2 will be the third installment by Insomniac. Fans can expect the game to drop this September. A sister product (Wolverine) is also reportedly present for the showcase.
Now let’s take a look at the chances of Multiplayer. During the May 24 event, PlayStation enthusiasts can expect an announcement from Naughty Dog. According to reports, they have been working on a post-apocalyptic multiplayer for the Last of Us. We can expect the announcement of the same this week. Additionally, Guerrilla Games, the brains behind the Horizon series, is also reportedly planning a multiplayer based on its successful AAA title.
Moving to third-party announcements and gameplay, fans can expect Mortal Kombat 1 to make an appearance during the showcase. On top of that, Death Stranding 2 by Hideo Kojima has been peeking around the corner. The showcase might be the stage where the world could see what the unique AAA title holds. Other than Mortal Kombat, fighting game lovers can also expect Tekken 8.
Even though these many third-party titles are reportedly lined up, most eyes would be on the Final Fantasy VII remake, which supposedly is stated for a winter 2023 release.
